My work begins with a single moment: an intriguing shape, color, or vignette which I build upon with paper, fabric, and embroidery. As I continue to make compositional decisions, the complexity of each piece deepens, creating a visual map of my thought process. My pieces are exuberant and busy, serving as a physical reminder of the technical decisions I've made. Often I use scraps from other works or fabric inherited from my female family members, imbuing these second-hand materials with new significance.

I studied Painting, Art History, and Museum Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and also with the Rome Art Program in 2010 in Florence, Italy. I currently maintain a studio at Lyndon Street Collaborative in Greensboro, NC and a glorified junk room/sewing room/studio in my home as well.
